Bulgaria Provinces Quiz — Rules & What Counts
Bulgaria has 28 provinces. A province is called an oblast. This quiz shows a blank map. You type the name of each province, and the map colors that province in place.
How to play
Type names in any order. A correct name colors the province on the map at once.
You can start to type right away. You do not need to click the answer box first.
"Sofia" scores Sofia City, the province of the capital. Type "Sofia Province" in full for the province around it.
Older spellings count. "Rousse" scores Ruse, and "Veliko Turnovo" scores Veliko Tarnovo.
A timer tracks your run. The quiz saves your best score and best time.
If you are stuck, use the give up button. The map then shows the provinces you missed.
What counts in this quiz
The 28 provinces, Sofia City included.
What's not included — and why
The historical regions are not answers. Thrace and Moesia group provinces, but they do not score.
Good to know
Almost every province carries the name of its main town.
Burgas is the largest province by area. Sofia City has the most people.
Sofia Province surrounds Sofia City, but the capital governs itself.
