Ireland Counties Quiz — Rules & What Counts
The Republic of Ireland has 26 counties. This quiz shows a blank map of Ireland. You type the name of each county, and the map colors that county in place.
The map shows the Republic only. The six counties of Northern Ireland are part of the United Kingdom, and they are not on the map.
How to play
Type names in any order. A correct name colors the county on the map at once.
You can start to type right away. You do not need to click the answer box first.
The word "county" is not required. "Cork" counts for County Cork.
A timer tracks your run. The quiz saves your best score and best time.
If you are stuck, use the give up button. The map then shows the counties you missed.

The 26 counties of the Republic of Ireland.
Laois also counts with the old spelling Laoighis.
What's not included — and why
The six counties of Northern Ireland are not answers. Antrim, Armagh, Derry, Down, Fermanagh and Tyrone are in the United Kingdom.
The provinces are not answers. Leinster, Munster, Connacht and Ulster group the counties, but they do not score.
Good to know
Cork is the largest county by area. Louth is the smallest.
County Dublin has the most people. More than a quarter of the population of the Republic lives there.
Leitrim has the fewest people of the 26 counties.
Tipperary was two separate ridings for more than 170 years. It is one county council again since 2014.
Donegal touches only one other county of the Republic: Leitrim.
