Good to know
Lagos has the most people, and it is the smallest state by area.
Niger is the largest state by area. It shares its name with the river and with the country to the north.
The Federal Capital Territory holds Abuja, which replaced Lagos as the capital in 1991.
The newest states date from 1996, when six were created at once.
