Norway has 15 counties. A county is called a fylke. This quiz shows a blank map of Norway. You type the name of each county, and the map colors that county in place.
How to play
Type names in any order. A correct name colors the county on the map at once.
You can start to type right away. You do not need to click the answer box first.
Norwegian letters are not required. "Trondelag" counts for Trøndelag, and "Ostfold" counts for Østfold.
A timer tracks your run. The quiz saves your best score and best time.
If you are stuck, use the give up button. The map then shows the counties you missed.

What's not included — and why
Cities are not answers. Bergen and Stavanger do not score — their counties do. Oslo is a city and a county, so Oslo scores.
The merged counties of 2020 are not answers. Viken, Vestfold og Telemark and Troms og Finnmark split again in 2024.
Svalbard and Jan Mayen are not on the map. They are not counties.
Good to know
Norway had 19 counties until 2020, 11 counties from 2020 to 2023, and 15 counties since 2024.
Innlandet is the only county with no coast.
Finnmark is the largest county by area and has the fewest people.
Oslo is the smallest county by area. Akershus, the county around Oslo, has the most people.
Trøndelag was two counties, Nord-Trøndelag and Sør-Trøndelag, until 2018.
