Guess the Animal

The game shows one animal photo at a time. Type the animal's name and pick it from the list. Every correct answer adds one to your streak — and one wrong answer ends the run.

The pool is the full Daily Animal cast: more than 800 species, every one with a real Wikimedia Commons photograph. The first rounds deal animals everyone knows; the deeper your streak goes, the rarer the animals get. A perfect run is a streak of 100.

How to play

• Look at the photo.
• Type the animal's name in the answer bar.
• Select the animal from the list. The list shows only animals in the quiz, so a spelling mistake is never a wrong answer.
• A correct answer shows the animal's name and deals the next photo. Your streak climbs by one.
• One wrong answer ends the run. Your score is the streak you reached.
• Reach a streak of 100 to complete a perfect run.

What counts in this quiz

• More than 800 animals from the Daily Animal pool — every animal that can be a Daily Animal answer and has a photo.
• Common English names and well-known alternate names count. "Puma" counts for Cougar; scientific names from the Daily Animal alias list count too.
• Early rounds deal well-known animals. Later rounds add rarer species, so a long streak needs deep knowledge.

What's not included — and why

• Animals without a photograph do not appear.
• An animal appears at most once per run — the list also hides animals you have already answered.

• The pool spans every continent and every animal class — mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians, fish, insects and more.
