Switzerland has four national languages. The quiz shows one common English name for each canton, and it accepts the German, French or Italian name too.
How to play
Type names in any order. A correct name colors the canton on the map at once.
You can start to type right away. You do not need to click the answer box first.
Names in more than one language count. "Geneva" and "Genève" score the same canton, and "Grisons" counts for Graubünden.
Accents are not required. "Zurich" counts for Zürich.
A timer tracks your run. The quiz saves your best score and best time.
If you are stuck, use the give up button. The map then shows the cantons you missed.

All 26 cantons.
Basel-Stadt and Basel-Landschaft are two separate answers. "Basel" alone scores Basel-Stadt.
What's not included — and why
Liechtenstein is not on the map. It is an independent country between the cantons of St. Gallen and Graubünden.
"Half-canton" is a historical label. Obwalden, Nidwalden, the two Basels and the two Appenzells each count as one full answer.
Good to know
Graubünden is the largest canton by area.
Zurich has the most people of the 26 cantons.
Jura is the newest canton. It split from Bern in 1979.
Appenzell Innerrhoden has the fewest people, with about 16,000.
