Countries of Asia Quiz — Rules & Where the Borders Fall
Asia is the second-biggest continent quiz on the site: 49 countries stretching from the Mediterranean coast to the Pacific, spanning the Middle East, the Caucasus, Central Asia, South Asia, and everything east of it.
The hard part isn't China and Japan — it's recalling all five Central Asian republics, keeping the Gulf states straight, and not blanking on the small ones like Bhutan or Timor-Leste.
Continental boundaries are genuinely fuzzy in this part of the world, so the dataset makes explicit calls: Turkey, the Caucasus states, and Cyprus are counted here, and both Taiwan and Palestine are on the list.
How to play

Alternate and historical names are accepted: Burma finds Myanmar, and Ceylon finds Sri Lanka.
Small states such as Bahrain, Singapore, and the Maldives appear as circles so they stay visible at continent scale.

What counts in this quiz
49 countries in the Asia group.
Taiwan counts as a country here (a self-governing de facto state), and Palestine counts as a UN observer state.
Transcontinental calls: Turkey (about 97% of its land is in Anatolia), Cyprus, Georgia, Armenia, and Azerbaijan are all grouped under Asia.
Both Koreas count, and Timor-Leste is grouped with Asia rather than Oceania.
What's not included — and why
Russia is grouped under Europe despite Siberia covering most of northern Asia — its capital and the bulk of its population are on the European side, and each country appears in exactly one continent group.
Egypt is grouped under Africa even though the Sinai Peninsula is geographically in Asia.
Hong Kong and Macau are special administrative regions of China, not sovereign states, so they aren't separate answers.

Timor-Leste, independent since 2002, is Asia's youngest country.
