Each city is a red dot on the map from the start. The dots show where the cities are, not which one is which.

A correct name turns the dot and its rank green and shows the name and the population.
Local names, old names and English names count. Accents are not required.

Bregenz is a state capital but not on the list. Dornbirn, in the same state, is almost twice as big.
Good to know
Vienna was the capital of an empire of more than 50 million people and was built for that size.
Villach and Klagenfurt are both in Carinthia, only about 40 km apart.
Sankt Pölten became the capital of Lower Austria in 1986. Before that, the state was run from Vienna.
