Four names or events, one impostor — history edition. Which of these was NOT a real US president? Three obscure but genuine presidents (Millard Fillmore, Rutherford B. Hayes…) hide one invented name stitched together from real ones. Other rounds hunt the fake pharaoh's rival, the legendary knight order, the event that happened in the wrong century.

The traps run from Oliver Cromwell (ruled England, refused the crown) to the Knights of the Round Table (glorious, and entirely legend). Every round ends with the one-line fact that settles it.

How to play

• Read the category, then tap the person, place or event that does NOT belong.
• One pick per round — the odd one out lights up when the round resolves, right or wrong.
• Every round closes with a short explanation: the real century, the real title, or the fact that the name was invented.
• The timer counts up from your first pick and only matters for beating yourself.
• "Review rounds" on the results screen replays every question with answers and explanations.

What counts in this quiz

• 10 rounds per run drawn from a wider pool of eras — Rome, Egypt, Tudor England, the American colonies and the 20th century all rotate in.
• Categories follow the standard historical record: actual officeholders, actual treaty dates, actual membership of the 13 colonies.
• One point per impostor found; a perfect run is 10/10.

What's not included — and why

• Invented names are always verifiably fake — mash-ups of real historical figures, never obscure real people, so the answer is checkable.
• Rulers whose status genuinely divides historians sit out their round — the 'was NOT a monarch' rounds only use clear-cut cases.

• Oliver Cromwell was offered the crown of England in 1657 and turned it down — then was posthumously 'executed' after the monarchy returned.
• Cleopatra lived closer in time to the Moon landing than to the building of the Great Pyramid.
