Land each item in the right country — the exact spot inside it doesn't matter.
Rules & what counts
Band Origins Quiz — Rules & What Counts
A famous band plays everywhere, but it started somewhere. This quiz gives you 24 bands and an empty world map. You drag each band onto the country it comes from.
Some are easy: few players place The Beatles outside the United Kingdom. The rest are the quiz: a symphonic metal band from a small Finnish town, a pop duo from Moscow, a legendary rock trio from Buenos Aires.
Each token shows a photo of the band and the name of the band.
How to play
Drag each band from the tray onto one of the dashed rings on the world map.
Drops are forgiving. A band snaps to the nearest ring in a generous radius.
Nothing is graded while you place. You can move a band again as often as you want.
Press Confirm to score all 24 at once.
The country is what counts. Nirvana and Metallica are both American, so either US ring accepts either band.
The timer counts up from zero. Give Up scores what you placed and shows where every band belongs.
What counts in this quiz
The country where the band was formed. Each ring sits at or near the band's home city.
24 bands across 23 countries, from Iceland to South Africa. Only the United States has two rings.
Groups only. Every act in the quiz is a band or a group, not a solo artist.
What's not included — and why
Where the band lives now does not count. A band that moved abroad still belongs to the country that formed it.
The members' birthplaces do not count. AC/DC's founders were born in Scotland, but the band formed in Sydney, so Australia is the answer.
Bands whose home country is disputed are not in the quiz. The Bee Gees were born on the Isle of Man, formed in Australia and broke through in England, so they cannot be a card here.
Good to know
ABBA is an initialism of the members' first names: Agnetha, Björn, Benny and Anni-Frid.
Måneskin is Italian, but the name is Danish for "moonlight" — the bassist is half Danish.
Nightwish comes from Kitee, a Finnish town of about 10,000 people.
Buena Vista Social Club is named after a members' club in Havana that closed in the 1940s.
Daft Punk took their name from a bad review that called their earlier band's music "a daft punky thrash".
