Each city is a red dot on the map from the start. The dots show where the cities are, not which one is which.
A numbered list on the left shows the ranks 1 to 10. Type the city names in any order.

A correct name turns the dot and its rank green and shows the name and the population.
Local names, old names and English names count. Accents are not required.

What counts in this quiz
Exactly 10 cities, ranked by population of the city proper (the INEGI locality).
The figures are from 2020 census and are rounded.
Mexico City is the biggest city with about 9.2M people.
What's not included — and why
Ecatepec, Nezahualcóyotl and Zapopan are separate cities in the census. They are suburbs of Mexico City and Guadalajara, but each has more than one million people.
Chihuahua, Mérida and Cancún fall just outside the top 10.

Mexico City has more people than the next eight cities together.
Tijuana is the second city of Mexico and sits on the US border, opposite San Diego.
Ciudad Juárez faces El Paso in Texas. The two cities form one urban area split by the Rio Grande.
