Norway ranks cities by urban area, the way Statistics Norway counts them. Oslo has more than a million people, and no other city passes 300,000.
The map shows the south of Norway, where all ten cities are. Tromsø, the largest city in the north, has about 43,000 people.

How to play
Each city is a red dot on the map from the start. The dots show where the cities are, not which one is which.
A numbered list on the left shows the ranks 1 to 10. Type the city names in any order.
You can start to type right away. You do not need to click the answer box first.
A correct name turns the dot and its rank green and shows the name and the population.
Local names, old names and English names count. Accents are not required.
A timer tracks your run. The quiz saves your best score and best time.
If you are stuck, use the give up button. The map then shows the cities you missed.

What's not included — and why
Stavanger and Sandnes form one urban area. The dot is Stavanger, and Sandnes is not an answer. Fredrikstad and Sarpsborg share one area in the same way, and so do Skien and Porsgrunn.
Moss, Haugesund, Sandefjord, Bodø and Tromsø fall just outside the top 10.
Svalbard and Jan Mayen are not on the map.
Good to know
Oslo was called Christiania from 1624 to 1924, after the Danish king Christian IV.
Bergen was the largest city in Norway until the 1830s, and it was a Hanseatic trading post for 400 years.
Trondheim was the first capital of Norway. Its cathedral, Nidaros, is the coronation church of the Norwegian kings.
