Name the ten largest countries in the world by total area. The top of the list is common knowledge; the bottom half is where runs go to die — it includes the largest country in Africa and the world's largest landlocked country, and most players blank on at least one of them.
Total area means land plus inland water, and that detail decides one famous ranking fight: third and fourth place are separated by less than one percent. This quiz is a quick play but a genuine memory test, and a great warm-up before tackling a full world map quiz.

This dataset places China (9,596,960 km²) just ahead of the United States (9,525,067 km²) — a ranking that flips in some sources depending on whether coastal and territorial waters are counted. By land plus inland water, China edges it.
Russia leads at 17.1 million km² — nearly double second-place Canada.
What's not included — and why
Dependent territories don't get their own entry and don't count toward a parent country's rank as a separate answer — Greenland, for instance, is not listed, because only sovereign states are ranked.
