Gen 4 Pokémon Quiz — Sinnoh Rules & What Counts
Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum brought 107 new Pokémon, and this quiz wants every one: #0387 Turtwig through #0493 Arceus, the Sinnoh generation.
Gen 4's signature move was reaching backward — nearly a third of its dex upgrades older Pokémon. Electivire, Magnezone, Rhyperior, Togekiss, Leafeon, and Glaceon are all Sinnoh answers, which trips up players who mentally shelved them with their pre-evolutions. Get those, survive the early-route filler, and the god of Pokémon waits at the end.
How to play
- Type names to flip cards — correct answers reveal in place the moment you finish the word.
- Punctuation and symbols are optional: "porygon z" and "mime jr" work without hyphens or periods.
- The timer counts up from your first keystroke; autosave keeps your run safe.
- For a harder session, Who's That Pokémon? mode hides all 107 sprites until you name them.
- Give Up ends the run and reveals what you missed, in dex order.

- The lake trio, the creation trio, and the full run of Sinnoh Mythicals — Phione, Manaphy, Darkrai, Shaymin, and Arceus — all count.
What's not included — and why
- Rotom is one answer at #0479 — its wash, heat, mow, fan, and frost appliance forms never count separately.
- Origin Forme Giratina and Sky Forme Shaymin are forms, not species — the base name covers each.
- Arceus counts once, not once per type plate, despite having 18 type forms.
Good to know
- Arceus is the franchise's creation deity — its dex entries say it shaped the universe with its thousand arms.
- Spiritomb is bound to a keystone holding 108 spirits — and its Defense and Special Defense are both exactly 108.
- Gen 4 finally split moves into physical and special per move rather than per type, arguably the biggest mechanical change in series history.
