Gen 6 Pokémon Quiz — Kalos: What Counts & How It's Played
X and Y introduced just 72 new Pokémon — the smallest generation in the series — and this quiz covers every one, from #0650 Chespin to #0721 Volcanion.
Small doesn't mean easy. Kalos went quality over quantity: it debuted the Fairy type, Mega Evolution, and some of the franchise's most beloved designs, then closed with three Mythicals in a row. With no early-route padding to speak of, the challenge is remembering the one-off oddballs — the haunted-sword line, the living keyring Klefki, the masked wrestling hawk Hawlucha.
How to play
- Type a name, watch the card flip — matching is instant and you never need the mouse.
- Accents are optional: plain "flabebe" is accepted for Flabébé, and capitalization is ignored everywhere.
- The count-up timer begins on your first keystroke; autosave protects the run.
- Who's That Pokémon? mode hides all 72 sprites — the short list makes it the best entry point for silhouette-style play.
- Give Up ends the run and reveals the Kalos Pokémon you couldn't recall.
What counts in this quiz
- All 72 species numbered #0650–#0721 — the complete, compact Kalos dex.
- Sylveon counts here as Eevee's Gen 6 evolution, along with fossil revivals Tyrantrum and Aurorus.
- The mortality duo plus Zygarde count, and the range ends on three straight Mythicals: Diancie, Hoopa, and Volcanion.
What's not included — and why
- Mega Evolution debuted in this generation, but no Mega is ever a separate answer — Megas are transformations of existing species, all folded into their base names.
- Vivillon's roughly 20 regional wing patterns and Flabébé's five flower colors are cosmetic forms — one answer each.
- Zygarde's 10%, 50%, and Complete formes share one Pokédex number: #0718.
Good to know
- Kalos is France: Lumiose City is Paris, and Prism Tower is the Eiffel Tower.
- Vivillon's wing pattern was set by the real-world region on your 3DS — collecting all of them required trading around the globe.
- At 0.1 kg, Flabébé is tied for the lightest Pokémon ever recorded.
- Gen 6 marked the series' jump to full 3D on the Nintendo 3DS — one reason the new roster stayed small.
