Gen 7 Pokémon Quiz (Alola) — Rules & What Counts
Sun and Moon's island paradise added 88 Pokémon, and this quiz asks for all of them: #0722 Rowlet through #0809 Melmetal, the Alola generation.
Gen 7 has the strangest tail end of any dex. Past the tropical regulars you hit the Ultra Beasts — extradimensional creatures with names like Xurkitree and Celesteela — plus four island guardians, a cosmic caterpillar line, and two Mythicals that debuted in Pokémon GO rather than a mainline game. It's a short quiz with a wild final stretch.
How to play
- Type to answer — correct names reveal their sprites immediately, no submit step.
- This is the punctuation-heaviest generation, and all of it is optional: "type null", "kommo o", and "tapukoko" are accepted alongside the formal spellings.
- The timer starts on your first keystroke, and your progress autosaves.
- Hidden-sprite mode turns the 88 answers into a pure memory run.
- Give Up ends the quiz and shows every Alolan you missed.
What counts in this quiz
- All 88 species numbered #0722–#0809 — the full Alola additions.
- All eleven Ultra Beasts count as answers, from Nihilego through Blacephalon.
- Meltan and Melmetal count — they premiered in Pokémon GO but sit at #0808 and #0809 in this range.
- The four island guardians (Tapu Koko, Tapu Lele, Tapu Bulu, Tapu Fini) each count separately.
What's not included — and why
- Alolan forms are the one thing this page famously does not include: Alolan Raichu, Vulpix, Exeggutor, and the rest are variants of Kanto species, so they belong to Kanto's numbers — and variants are never separate answers anyway.
- Lycanroc's three forms, Minior's colored cores, Oricorio's four dance styles, and Necrozma's fusions all collapse into one answer each.
Good to know
- Wishiwashi is the weakest fish in the dex until it schools into a 26-foot leviathan with legendary-class stats.
- Mimikyu wears a hand-made Pikachu costume because it desperately wants to be as loved as the mascot it imitates.
- Kartana is a folded-paper Ultra Beast whose blade edges can slice through steel — but rain makes it soggy and harmless.
