Name the 13 character classes of 5th edition Dungeons & Dragons: the 12 classes of the Player's Handbook and the artificer.
Each card shows one feature of the class, its hit die and its main ability. The class name is the reveal.
How to play
Type a class name. The card turns over as soon as you spell it.
You do not have to press Enter, and you do not have to solve the cards in order.
The timer counts up. Give Up ends the run and turns over every card you missed.
What counts in this quiz
The 12 classes of the 2014 Player's Handbook: barbarian, bard, cleric, druid, fighter, monk, paladin, ranger, rogue, sorcerer, warlock and wizard.
The artificer, the one official class published outside the Player's Handbook: Eberron: Rising from the Last War (2019) and Tasha's Cauldron of Everything (2020).
The feature on each card is a class feature of the 2014 rules: Rage, Sneak Attack, Wild Shape, Lay on Hands, Metamagic.
Common misspellings count: "rouge" solves the rogue, "sorceror" the sorcerer.
Your score is the number of classes you name. The maximum score is 13.
The class features and hit dice come from the System Reference Document 5.1 by Wizards of the Coast LLC, licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License. The numbers are the 2014 rules.
What's not included, and why
Subclasses are not cards. The Champion, the Life Domain and the Circle of the Land are parts of their class.
Classes of older editions are not in the quiz: no assassin, no illusionist, no cavalier, no warlord. The blood hunter, a popular third-party class, is not official.
The 2024 Player's Handbook keeps the same 12 classes, so the list is the same for both rule sets.
Good to know
The first edition of 1974 had three classes: fighting man, magic-user and cleric. The thief came in 1975, in the Greyhawk supplement.
The sorcerer and the warlock are the newest of the 12. The sorcerer arrived with 3rd edition in 2000, the warlock in Complete Arcane in 2004.
The barbarian has the largest hit die, d12. The sorcerer and the wizard have the smallest, d6.
